Which Security Seal to use?

Security seals are often used in supply chain security programmes. There are two types of shipping container seals – Indicative Seals and Barrier Seals.

Barrier seals are becoming more common. In addition to providing evidence of tampering, barrier seals can actually deter theft because they are harder to remove.

How to choose the best security seal for you?

  • Determine if you require an indicative or barrier seal.
  • If using a barrier seal, determine which level of strength and security is needed.
  • Ensure the seal type fits the devise / lock.

Let’s understand the difference between different types of Security Seals. If you have queries, feel free to reach out to us.

What is a Bolt Seal?

A bolt seal is known as a high-security seal which is installed in containers loaded for export and must comply with an international standard.

Our ISO17712 high-security bolt seals are the ideal barrier seal for the secure transportation of shipping containers, trucks and trailers offering the highest level of protection while transporting your cargo throughout the world.

Labelprint’s bolts seals are ISO17712 high security certified and C-TPAT compliant and are accepted by UK, US and EU custom authorities. This includes the new customs border between the UK and EU as a result of Brexit. Bolt seals are also known as Barrier seals. They are the strongest and most difficult to cut open and a specialised industrial strength tool/ bolt cutter is required to remove them.

To prevent seal tampering and increase security seals are colour coded and printed with a unique serial number.

What is a Cable Lock Seal?

Strong, adjustable pull-tight barrier seals have an aluminium body and galvanized steel wire rope. The seals are secured as soon as the wire has passed through the one-way locking mechanism. Ideal for use on trucks, tankers, air cargo containers, shipping containers, rail cars, calibrators and valves. C-TPAT and ISO 17712 compliant.

What is an Indicative Seal?

Indicative seals demonstrate if the item being sealed has been tampered with - made from plastic they can easily be broken – their function is to demonstrate entry – not to deter it. Plastic seals can be used on a wide variety of applications including shipping containers, trucks, airline trolleys, roll cages and confidential file storage.
